Substack is indeed a good place to be. I will be sending out #52 of my weekly letters from the moss this week. I went on to Substack to try to develop a regular writing practice and maybe grow my audience (it worked). But beyond any personal benefit there is a richness of reading to discover there via Notes, plenty of inspiration and help from a supportive and growing community. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

I’m a massive Substack fan – I love that there’s now a platform where I can dip in to all sorts of different writing and I’m constantly finding new publications to follow! Reading here has also definitely reduced my daily news/doom scroll! I’m a big Claire Venue fan (https://sparkleon.substack.com/) so it was nice to see her included in your list! I’d also recommend The Creative Prescription (https://georgiestclair.substack.com/) Entre Nous by Sara Tasker (https://meandorla.substack.com/) and Seasonal Creativity (https://fionadartisan.substack.com/).

I’ve started my own Substack as well at https://drawntonature.substack.com/ as I love writing and didn’t have a space in my website blog/newsletter for doing more in-depth articles and pieces that share my love of nature and creativity and how they interlink.

  3. Substack is the very best place for creatives to be – over three years I’ve seen an extraordinarily supportive community grow up around both my newsletter The Gardening Mind and many others. There’s a wonderful symbiotic relationship between different newsletters, and the whole thing is a hugely positive experience

  4. Emma Carpendale

I’m so happy to see Substack being celebrated here! 🙌

I joined last August and launched my membership a month later. I was to-ing and fro-ing between choosing Substack and Patreon, but Substack came out on top because of the sophistication of its community and publishing tools whilst being simple to set up.

An unexpected bonus was discovering a warm and welcoming Substack community who are very open to collaboration. In a short space of time, I’ve made many wonderful connections and built friendships, it’s a great platform and I would highly recommend it to creatives, either as a way to send out your newsletters, connect with the wider community through Notes (Substack’s social media) or as a place to start your own membership or community space.

Some of my favourite publications are (there are so many I enjoy but will share just a few here):

    https://meandorla.substack.com

If you do join Substack or you are there already, please come and say hello 👋 You can find me at The Creative Flock: https://thecreativeflock.substack.com. It’s a space for artists, illustrators or any creative folk who are looking for inspiration and a community of like-minded people. Most of what I share is focused on themes of wildlife, nature, seasons and storytelling and how these areas inspire my creativity.
